While the study duration varies from person to person, it's typical to invest around 300 hours in preparing for this exam (roughly 100 hours per exam hour). Most students spread their study over three months, dedicating the first two months to learning the material and the final month to solving practice problems. You can use our scheduler to help organize your exam preparation.
If you enjoy statistics and prefer a less computation-heavy exam, we suggest taking SRM next. If you want to further your probability skills or have an interest in life insurance, we suggest taking FAM next.
Most students would greatly benefit from knowing that material beforehand, especially in terms of understanding the goals/motivation behind why we analyze data in certain ways. Without that background, parts of SRM are likely to seem robotic and confusing.
